OK. So some of you are wondering when the next edition of Wooden Toy 'THE MUSIC EDITION 7' is arriving and we're glad to tell you on this first day of July that it's closer than ever before. With only a handful more stories and pages to tidy up, the epic and back breaking edition 7 is almost about to head off to the print shop to get it's ink. We're hoping to beat an end of July realease so brace yourselves kids coz there's going to be a lot to look at. Yeah, it's late as usual! We know, we know. But we've become very proud over the years to become the only quarterly magazine that comes out once per year! haha! Most of you reading this blog wood probably have a copy of a Wooden Toy back edition so you wood know we don't like to cut corners. So if it's late, it doesn't mean that we're not working on it, more likely it just means that our design machine Timba's probably halfway through an epic 40 hour 2 page spread or some crazy shit like that. You see we're always pushing the boundaries here at WTHQ, and try to make each edition better than the last which, in effect takes longer than the last. So, just to wet your appetite, check out some of the spreads below for a special sneak peek and sniff out the magazine section here for more information.

If you're in Melbourne you had better get down to the Wooden Foundations show at No Vacancy Gallery tomorrow night Thursday 1 July. My brother from another mother Twoone (Hiroyasu Tsuri), Bonsai (Scottie Neoh), Oh54 (Paul Milecharane) & Nails (Niels Oeltjen) are Wooden Foundations and they've got together to put on an amazing installation show featuring lots and lots of WOOD and recycled things! Sharing the common bond of the spray can, these artists have each developed vibrant art and design practices (encompassing the visual and sonic). For this show they will create an installation that explores artistic collaboration as an extension of their street-based collabs, and the convergence of personal mythology into a group scenario, and anything that the working process may bring along with it. As collectors of miscellany, and users of recycled material in their artwork, the collective has gone one step further and committed to creating the installation almost entirely out of recycled/reclaimed/re-used material. You can find out more info on the collective at www.woodenfoundations.com
Opening night is Thursday 1st July: 6pm - 9pm and continues until the 16th July at No Vacancy Gallery: 34–40 Jane Bell Lane, QV, Melbourne. www.no-vacancy.com.au

It's only natural after spending close to a week in Paris that i wood be drawn to the Mister French paper Stache. Designed as a promotional gimic by the French Paper Co. a family-run paper mill outta America this clever little idea is just what i needed when walking the streets of Mont Marté. I have to say... I'm very impressed when it comes to their brand delivery. It's vintage, it's kitsch and above all, it's sooper clever for a paper mill. I have never used the paper before so i can't comment on that but i sure as heck am going to get a handle on some that's for sure. And needless to say, i want a stache too! You can read up about this neat paper company over at www.frenchpaper.com And don't forget to check out their blog too. It's a cracker! www.frenchsampleroom.com

Yep, that's right folks. Look what it did to this poor bird son of a bitch? He Spent all his time gambling online putting all his chips on twitter and now his little bird house is foreclosed. But seriously though! How rad are these?? I know they've been arounf for a while but i couldn't help myself. These beautiful avian abodes are a collaborative effort by San Francisco artists Luke Bartels & Jeff Canham. Combining immaculate craftsmanship with a wry sense of humor, these amazing objects present a whole village of painted wooden bird houses, or rather bird businesses: The Condor Club Peep Show, Madame Cuckoo Psychic, Night Owls Bar, Pigeon Hole Motel... Each one adorable, meticulous, and completely one of a kind. You can buy them over at the website www.curiosityshoppeonline.com but not until i got one first Capisce?

Being Paris for the Spanish born Offf conference I thought i'd share with you the work of Pietari Posti. Originally from Helsinki, Finland, Pietari now lives and works outa Barcelona, Spain. Pietari´s work has been featured in advertising, merchandise product, T-shirts, books and publications such as The New York Times, The Guardian, Wired Magazine and Paste Magazine. I personally have a copy of the poster book Naive art (with Posti's work on the cover) and it's rad. I've always been a good fan of Pietari's work, I just wish he was here in Paris to talk at the Offf conference. www.pposti.com
