I'm not really the biggest comic book fiend or a collector as such but i do LOVE the artworks of italian artist and master inker Francesco Francavilla. It's the vintage vibe of Francesco's work i love the most. His use of simple bold typographer and great colour choices along with references to old horror movie posters. If you're familiar with Pulp Sundays then you would have seen Francesco's work before most notably the MAD DOCTORS poster which has seen quite a bit of the world through the indanets. Well, there's been a lot of talk about this Johnny Cupcakes brand lately? I wonder what all the fuss is about? Oh yeah... thats right... JC RULES! And i've been lucky enough to have spent the last few days with the JC family over here in ye olde London town as the new store opens its doors. Along with Meeting Johnny and Chris who I earlier chirped about (read below), I had the pleasure to hang out with a very cool (and talented) cat by the name of Clark Orr. I've never met a real Clark before but if all Clarks are as cool as this Clark then i pretty much like Clarks! I mean Chevy Chase was a Clark in National Lampoons vacation and he was a fucking legend! Anyway, back on track now... Clark was the head designer at Johnny Cupcakes for pretty much the last decade, having helped build the brand from the ground up with Johnny at the helm. Just last year in 2010, Orr handed over the JC design reigns and its legacy to Chris DeLorenzo, the new head designer at JC. After designing more tshirts than he can count Clark has stepped off into new freelancing projects and we're all very excited to see what comes next. www.clarkorr.com

The name Josh Cochran has been popping up on my radar quite a bit lately. First through news that he will be part of a fancy new iphone app that i'm working on with the guys at POOLGA curated by the multi-talented Nate Utesch of Ferocious Quarterly and then just yesterday he was featured as another great guest artist on Jessica Hische's Daily Drop Cap project. I'm pretty much in love and in awe of his Letter Q. Talk about thinking outside the letter. And who doesn't like a good bird eh? Over at Josh's website you'll find a whole feast of beautiful work that is very illustrated and very very nice to look at. Check it out now... www.joshcochran.net

I liked the AM I COLLECTIVE bio on their website so much that i'm just gunna copy and paste it here. That, and am i'm being extremely lazy today! Too much worky and not enough sleepy makes Timba feel "something something". But, without further excuses let me introduce you to the crew responsible for the awesome type work you see here... and for waking me up with a CREATIVE SLAP TO THE FAAACE today. "The am i collective is a group of mongrels, hunting, playing and surviving as a pack. Like the endangered wild dogs of africa, we operate as a true collective. The ever-present shadow of table mountain that guards our city, reminds us of our smallness in the bigger scheme of things. Survival in our industry would be challenging if we were to lose our togetherness at the expense of any individual pursuit of greatness. We benefit each year by introducing new blood into the pack. This ensures that we keep exploring new techniques, styles and ideas. It keeps us uncomfortable and our instincts on edge." Check out their awesome work over here >> www.amicollective.com Note: make sure to be sitting down, have a spare hour and ample Tea in your hand as this may take a while.
