As you most likely (we hope) know, The Australian Minister for Communications Stephen Conroy is still, more so than ever, a total fuck tard and doing all that he can to convince our skeptical public that the mandatory internet filter is in everyones best interest. “‘This is a policy that will be going ahead,” said Conroy, A pollicy that has been publicly opposed by the likes of Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Electronic Frontiers Australia and even US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, that will make Australia the most heavily censored country in the western world. Nice job dickhead.

The filter quickly spiraled from a voluntary "opt in" filter to protect children from all that is evil on the internet, to a mandatory for all ISP to filter what the government believes to be inappropriate content, offensive and illegal material, legal pornography, gambling and even P2P traffic taking the internet in Australia to a "Chinese state". All this to protect children form pedophiles and the like through a proposed filter that will only filter unencrypted web (HTTP) traffic. ISP iiNet has been public in its opposition saying "The reality is pedophiles and criminals do not use public websites to distribute their illegal content and the planned Government filter is currently only proposed to block website addresses or ‘URLs’ – so it won’t prevent this kind of activity".

A recent opinion poll from Galaxy Research shows that 86% of respondents agree that parents should be the first line of defense to protect there children from harmful content on the internet not the government.

So if you believe in a free internet then be educated on it and be heard about it. Or burn down a building about it, either either.

TUESDAY 01 JUNE 2010 // A PINCH & A PUNCH FOR THE 1ST DAY OF THE MONTH

Kick and a flick for being so quick! Yeah! So get this... Originating from old England times when people thought that witches existed, People thought that salt would make a witch weak, so the pinch part is pinching of the salt, and the punch part was to banish the witch. The witch would be weak from the salt so the punch was to banish her. Ahhhh, thanks wikipedia! You never ceaze to surprise me with your knowledge! Now, there are many different ways you can use this phrase, in particular it should be said (and backed up with ya fist) before midday on the first day of every month (so turn left and punch whoever is next to you). I like to aim for just below the shoulder in a swift move to make dead ones arm. My housemate just got it good! oooh yeeah! Now for some other rules that you may be interested in are that a good left right combo wood be to add "and no returns" to the end of your punch, which should stop the person to attack you back with "a kick and a flick for being so quick" or "a flick in the eye for being so sly". But if ya wussy housemate drops the term "white rabbits" before you can finish ya darn sentence and leaving you mid swing then heck, he or she can punch you instead. What a game huh?

I like the work of self proclaimed Actor, Director and Photographer Luke Saliba. I cant say i've seen him act before but i sure as heck think he's good behind the camera lens. As an artist, Luke has always had a passion for all things creative. Throughout his work Luke shows a clear interest in photographing people in their natural surroundings. And through travel also enjoy's capturing the day to day beauty that life can serve up. Rather versatlie, Luke himself can serve up anything from Portraits, entertainer promos, surf, urban and designer work. And through his line of work as Director has completed numerous Short films, Internet mini series and is currently planning to film his first Independent Feature film. When all cameras are down Luke loves to hang out on the coast where he grew up in Ocean Grove on the South Beaches of Victoria. MONDAY 31 MAY 2010 // A NOT SO HAPPY MONDAY =(

R.I.P legendary actor, director and supporter of the arts Dennis Hopper who died this Saturday gone at his home in Venice, CA at the age of 74. The famous Easy Rider and Apocalypse Now star was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer last year and unfortunately has lost the fight. Some good news however that he was surrounded by friends and family at the time. The star will be sorely missed by so many people from all over the planet including the art world who owes a huge debt of gratitude to this guy who over his outstanding career as an esteemed actor, director, scriptwriter and photographer had also amassed a HUGE collection of art bought from some of the biggest players in the art world including Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol just to name a few. I feel deeply upset that i missed his exhibition in Melbourne and sad to hear the news. Peace be with you brother! You will always be remembered.

MONDAY 31 MAY 2010 // CRAZY PROJECTOR PHOTOGRAPHS

I stumbled across these really clever projector photographs by photographer Elisa Lazo de Valdez: Photographer, mother, wife, artist, marathon dreamer, peanut butter devotee. No joke, i think she really really really loves peanut butter. The reason why i can tell is i cant say i have ever read someone saying they love peanut butter in their "about me" section of their website and i've seen a few over the years to tell the truth. But hey, i dont blame her.. Peanut butter fucking ROCKS!!! None of this smooth shit though... Crunchy all the way! Anyhow, not getting sidetracked or anything. Elisa's photography experiment using a slide projector and beaming photographs of weird shit onto (usually naked) peoples skin then photographing them again is down right RAD!
