WEDNESDAY 16 JUNE 2010 // THE EVERFRESH BLACKBOOK

To say i'm excited about the not to far away release of the EVERFRESH: BLACKBOOK wood be a massiv mutha cussin understatement. Simply said, what these guys have done for Melbourne (the city), it's locals and for every bit of creative inspiration they've given to so many other artists is legend type shit. Not to mention the productivity of art within the group itself. Don't get me started! I'm talking about the group known as Everfresh here — artists Sync, Phibs, Reka, Rone, Wonderlust, Prizm, Meggs, Makatron and The Tooth — who create works which fuse intense colour, intricate line work, iconic characters and visual narratives, using the most diverse street art and graffiti techniques. The Everfresh crew are the key players that continue to shape Melbourne’s dynamic and prolific street-art scene.

Everfresh Studio is an explosive hub of creation and activity, inconspicuously located in Melbourne’s inner-city suburb of Collingwood. Behind an unmarked factory door, Everfresh artists conceive, develop and collaborate to produce their now internationally renowned work for the streets, as well as fine art for exhibition in galleries and to furnish the art market’s growing appetite for street art.

Illustrated with striking, candid photography, EVERFRESH: BLACKBOOK provides a rare and exclusive insight into the life of the studio, the artists behind the work and the culture of the elusive underground art world—a world usually cloaked in anonymity. More info at www.everfreshstudio.com

WEDNESDAY 16 JUNE 2010 // ANAGLYPHIC SKATEBOARD ART BY DAN SPRINGER

Dan Springer is a Toronto based artist who recently made these really RAD anaglyphic 3d prints using some good ole wooden toy's as his printing blocks. It turns out as a 3D anaglyph printed by using 2 laser etched skateboards... each slightly different to account for the object either popping in the foreground or receding into the background. Rumour is, someone in the Imax 3D studio over there in Toronto bought them to hang up in the studio. Those Imax peeple are all over the 3d at the moment. They roped me into seeing Avatar 3 times and Alice 2 time so far. What am i going to do when 4d arrives. Sheesh. Check out more of Dans work here

TUESDAY 15 JUNE 2010 // ILLUSTRATIONS BY BURNT FEATHER

I pretty much love anything to do with Batman (being my favourite of the superheroes), and along with Catgirl being a hottie and Ghostworld being one of my favourite films it was only natural that i wood feel all warm and gooey inside for the drawings i was just sent by Fee Harding aka Burnt Feather. I like how this clever little feather takes popular cinema, comic and celebrity personality and uses them as inspiration for her pen and ink drawings. It's a perfect way to get sucked into her world. You can see more of her work and by her prints at www.burntfeather.etsy.com

MONDAY 14 JUNE 2010 // HAPPY MONDAYS!!!

Well, with the FIFA World Cup well underway and pretty much the whole of London going nuts about it, it's pretty easy to get lost in the fever. However, pretty much every Australian living in London felt the pain of watching our lads go down 4 zip to a tough opponent in Germany last night. But as good as Germany were is no excuse for us playing like a pack of lame ass glory hogs. Ever heard of passing the ball to your team mate when he's open for cuss sake? No, instead, why not kick it to your opponent instead. Sheesh, It was hard to watch to say the least. I'm just glad there were no German supporters down the local pub to watch us cheer like maniacs at almost scoring a goal that missed by a country mile. That's as good as it got. Good luck boys, with our best player red carded you're going to need it.

MONDAY 14 JUNE 2010 // HIGH-HO SILVER!!

I pretty much lost my shit stumbling across this crazy ass silver birch and plank speaker setup on a blog yesterday. The problem is, I have no idea who made them, where you can get them or if they are even going into production. The blog gave no insight into who made them or a link to any other website. All i can report is they are cussing rad and a complete mystery to me. But, I kind of think that's what i love the most about them. It's almost a question of 'are they real?' or 'is this real life?' It's almost like they wood be the kind of speakers that wood appear in my dreams. Wood is Good!
