The always busy, always supportive Andrew Johnstone of Design is Kinky, Semi-Permanent and Empty magazine fame has been getting into what he calls taking 'proper' photos of late. And when i say proper, i mean straight up bonefide Amazing! Taken throughout recent trips to Iceland, the South Island of New Zealand and Tasmania, Andrews landscape and travel photos look like you could just step right into the picture. As if you could dip your finger into your screen and feel the coldness of those icelandic icebergs and glaciers. Lets hope the shutter keeps shuttering. More at www.andrewjohnstone.com

Man, i cant believe i didn't know about this already. I haven't checked out the FriendsWithYou website for a while and in that time they've gone and launched a brand spankin amazing new one and opened a really neat store in Miami. You may remember FriendsWithYou and thier Good Wood Gang feature in our very first issue of Wooden Toy a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.
Well, after eight years of Magic, Luck, and Friendship, FriendsWithYou has found a home in Miami’s Design District. They say thier new headquarters has brought them much growth and accelerated their mission to spread magic across the world. During Art Basel Miami 2009, thier boutique made its debut with a grand opening that was attended by celebs, designers, artists, and all of their favorite friends... YOU! The shop is ever-changing and will offer an array of experiences, limited edition products, fine art works, collectible toys, prints, apparel, and more. As the storefront to thier brand new headquarters, the FriendsWithYou boutique will be the first to showcase all of thier latest creations. If you find yourself in Miami, make sure to swing by the Design District and check out thier new spot, where the philosophy is: “Shop Happy!” www.friendswithyou.com

And speaking of new websites. Our very own Timba has baked up a brand new one. Ch Ch Ch Check it out! www.timbasmits.com Fresh outta the oven folks, and still steaming! And like Stevie Wonder once sang... "Isn't she lovely, Isn't she wonderfull, Isn't she precious, Less than one minute old." It's taken a while because the man has been so busy but it's finally happened. Some NEW features include a bunch of new work from the pages of Wooden Toy and his freelance projects to facebook and twitter intergration. All topped off with a snazzy new design that is more in-tune with his kitsch style. Out with the old and with the... vintage!

Thomas Cantoni is a french artist/illustrator who has a super slick style that i'm really impressed by. Anything thats a little on the vintage/nostalgic side gets me (you know that) and Cantoni's work is nothing short of 1979 in your face retro! His website prtfolio features a mix of personal work and commercial projects for brands such as Kulte and Electric Visual which are well worth having a look at. I'm really the colours Cantoni uses throughout his work and he seems to be a whiz in illustrator as much as he is weilding a pencil and paper. A good combination: We likey! Make sure you check out the Aerostyle section on his website. more at www.thomascantoni.com

We first discovered Brisbane designer/artist/illustrator Steven Rhodes back in January when he was featured in a small blog right here back then. Since then Steven has done a whole bunch of new work and even got featured in the 2010 Semi-Permanent book by Design is Kinky. A great achievement for anyone that calls themselfves a fledgling illustrator and graphic designer. Always a creative person from the get-go Steven has a rather unique background when it comes to how he entered the design profession in an unusual way, working as a landscape architect. And after several years at doing this he yearned for more creative pastures so he booked himself into Timba's old study grounds at Shillington College graduating in 2009. Shillington is a great college for anyone wanting to study graphic design and it sure shows in Steven's work. keep it coming mate. More at www.stevenrhodes.com.au
