Man i cant believe that it's the end of July already. Wasn't it the 1st of July like 3 days ago? Shiiiiit! Where does time go huh? sometimes i think to myself that there's definately some guy that sits there and just likes to rip it out from under you. Why can't time be infinite huh? The only good thing about it being the end of the month already is that Melbourne based artist James Reka will be showing his latest collection of works titled 'Outside Infinity' at 19 Karen Gallery, 19 Karen Ave, Mermaid Beach, Gold Coast, QLD. The show opens this Saturday 31 July 2010 6-8pm and continues until 28 August. With influences in pop culture, cartoons and illustration, Reka creates his own world of mysterious creatures that communicate though colour and movement, based around the style of abstracted fantasy and surrealism. Reka's new paintings are amazing... this show is not to be missed if you are up north. More info here - www.rekaone.com

Man, I've always been a fan of the Fables comics cover artwork by Sao Paulo based artist Joao Ruas aka FERAL KID. His Watercolour and gouache technique is second to none, wielding that brush around like a fine master. Add to this some pretty darn surreal imagery and you've got a really really strinking combination. I haven't dropped in on his website or blog in a while and it sure was a treat of all sorts. Why not treat yourself swell? www.feral-kid.com

Paper art is HUGE right now. I'm telling you. Come on, tell me you haven't seen it going around? it's everywhere and Owen Gildersleeve, a designer and illustrator based in London is right up there with the best of them mixing up his typography and paper cutting skills at the same time. Graduating from The University of Brighton in 2008, Gildersleeve has since worked for a range of international clients including the likes of The TATE, The Guardian, The New York Times, and WIRED magazine . His work explores both 2D and 3D styles, and he finds great enjoyment in experimenting with new materials and techniques. Owen is also part of the Evening Tweed design collective, and one half of the band Old Mayor. A talented young chap one wood say! www.owengildersleeve.com

Oh we do enjoy hearing what all ya'll are up to out there on all your endeavors and adventures through this wild seas ride we're riding, and yesterday was no different. I got some mail from non other than one of the Rumble In The Eardrum winners, Anne Cobai. Remember her wickedly woody and musical piece of the lusty lady and her guitar (suss it here)? Well Annes been staying busy and rocking the boat to the max! You can peep more from Anne at her site here! P.S Loving the SHIT outta this cowboy one Anne!

The always busy, always supportive Andrew Johnstone of Design is Kinky, Semi-Permanent and Empty magazine fame has been getting into what he calls taking 'proper' photos of late. And when i say proper, i mean straight up bonefide Amazing! Taken throughout recent trips to Iceland, the South Island of New Zealand and Tasmania, Andrews landscape and travel photos look like you could just step right into the picture. As if you could dip your finger into your screen and feel the coldness of those icelandic icebergs and glaciers. Lets hope the shutter keeps shuttering. More at www.andrewjohnstone.com
